I’m starting to venture into doing more freelance WordPress sites for friends and clients. I want to do it right and not half a$$ it and am struggling with a consistent workflow.
Ideally I would like to develop each site locally so I can learn more and more about WordPress but also tweak everything before going live. I’m currently using BitNami but find that I can only have one site at a time.
I have read their instructions on setting up a Multi Site from within WordPress but cannot open up Port 80 ( as it says is necessary ) because of a Windows 7 component owning that port. My question is this, is there an easy way to just run as many installations of WordPress as I like on my local workstation? I’m starting to ( or at least trying to ) understand phpMyAdmin and am wondering if it’s just a matter of creating multiple databases for each site I want to develop?
I’ve been Googling like mad to find a good suggestion for total workflow. Start to beginning. Is there a Best Practices guide I should be following? I’m developing from scratch, mostly using pre-made (purchased) themes and going from there.
Thanks for your time!
